Opvlammingen ('flares') worden omschreven als periodes waarbij op grote delen van de huid blaasjes met pus worden gevormd.7 Deze kunnen opeens ontstaan bij mensen die wel of geen plaque psoriasis hebben.13 Opvlammingen kunnen starten met een vuurrode, gevoelige huid. Let goed op hoe uw lichaam aanvoelt vlak voor een opvlamming. U voelt zich misschien niet lekker en niet erg op uw gemak. U kunt minder eetlust hebben, last van misselijkheid, koorts of gewrichtspijn.1,9,10 Praat meteen met uw dermatoloog als u een opvlamming voelt aankomen of als u zich niet lekker voelt.

Praat met uw dermatoloog of ga naar het ziekenhuis wanneer u de eerste tekenen van een opvlamming ziet of voelt. Een dokter zou u iets kunnen geven waardoor de klachten minder worden.18 Bij een ernstige opvlamming – zoals met hoge koorts of als u ernstig ziek wordt – is het heel belangrijk dat u contact opneemt met een arts en direct zorg inroept.4

ELKE OPVLAMMING IS ERNSTIG EN KAN MEDISCHE ZORG NODIG HEBBEN

In sommige gevallen moet u in het ziekenhuis worden opgenomen en is medische noodhulp nodig. Hoewel dit zelden voorkomt, kunnen complicaties van een opvlamming levensbedreigend zijn.1,3

ZORG DAT U INFORMATIE OVER UW GPP BIJ U heeft

Op een kaart of een SOS armband met ook het telefoonnummer van uw dermatoloog erop kan uitleg staan over wat GPP is. Zo kan elke zorgverlener contact opnemen met uw dermatoloog voordat hij of zij u behandelt. Het is belangrijk om zo snel mogelijk de juiste behandeling te krijgen.6,16
